An international industrial company based in Austria.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and lead a small finance team. This is a key position within the finance department, combining hands-on accounting tasks with leadership responsibilities. The ideal candidate will bring a solid background in Austrian GAAP (UGB), experience in team coordination, and a proactive, process-oriented mindset.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise daily accounting operations, including AP, AR, GL, and fixed assets.
• Coordinate and support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes in accordance with UGB.
• Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and internal reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Lead, coach, and support a team of 3–4 accountants, assigning tasks and monitoring workload.
• Prepare and review VAT returns and collaborate with external tax advisors (Steuerberater) on local tax filings.
• Support audit preparations (internal and external) and ensure proper documentation.
• Contribute to process improvements and accounting system optimization.
• Assist in the implementation of finance and accounting projects (e.g., automation, digitalization).
• Collaborate closely with Controlling, HR, and other internal departments.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5 years of professional experience in accounting; preferably in manufacturing
• Strong knowledge of Austrian GAAP (UGB) and Austrian tax regulations (USt, KöSt).
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., BMD, SAP, or similar).
• Fluency in German (C1 level); good command of English for internal communication.
• Structured, hands-on, and solution-driven personality.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to lead a small team effectively.
