Backend Engineer (f/m/x)

We're looking for a Backend Engineer who enjoys building reliable backend systems and improving the platform they run on. You'll help shape the services, infrastructure, and engineering practices that power our product while working closely with the team to solve meaningful problems at scale.

DEINE AUFGABEN

You'll own backend services end-to-end - from designing solutions and implementing features to operating and improving them in production. Your work will directly impact feature delivery speed, platform reliability, and the effectiveness of our software development processes.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build and maintain backend services and APIs using Node.js and TypeScript
• Take ownership of systems throughout their entire lifecycle - from requirements, design to production
• Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to turn ideas into scalable solutions
• Improve platform reliability, performance, and developer experience
• Contribute to architectural decisions, cloud infrastructure, and technical best practices
• Troubleshoot production issues, share knowledge through code reviews and collaboration, and help shape the future of Agentic Engineering at hokify

• Proven experience building and operating backend applications in production environments
• Strong hands-on expertise with Node.js and TypeScript
• Curiosity about how systems work beyond application code, including infrastructure, deployments, and reliability
• A strong sense of ownership and accountability, with a focus on delivering meaningful outcomes
• Pragmatic problem-solving skills and a passion for continuous improvement
• Strong collaboration and communication skills

• Experience with platform engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure automation
• Experience operating distributed systems in production
• Experience with Elasticsearch / OpenSearch
• Experience using AI-powered development tools
• German language skills or willingness to learn

The salary is from EUR 56,000 gross/year. Your actual salary will be agreed depending on your qualifications and experience.
